Pegasus Bridge – 80th Anniversary Edition – Now Available.

For the 80th Anniversary of D-Day and the Coup de Main operation, the former Pegasus and Orne Bridges (2009) has been updated and expanded as ‘Pegasus Bridge’.

Since the publication of the original 15 years ago, during my subsequent research into the 6th Airborne Division, I have always ‘kept an eye open’ for anything else related to the capture, defence and relief of the bridges. These items were stored, no matter how small, into a bespoke folder. Added to this was further testimony of the veterans, several of which have been supplied by the families concerned, and other documents provided from various sources. Consequently, the intended amendment ended up being a virtual re-write, as the majority of the book was dismantled, re-analysed against the new information and then re-assembled. For example, due to a document supplied by the son of Captain Jim Webber, 2I/C ‘A’ Company, 7th Parachute Battalion, the depiction of the fighting in Benouville is now in a far more accurate, chronological manner, something I would never have thought possible. And that is just one instance. The photographs have also been added to, and the Footnotes and Appendices expanded.
